Street art is a vivid representation of creativity that surrounds us, yet the stories of the artists behind these works frequently remain untold. Sprayin' is a documentary film series committed to bringing these stories to light. Sprayin' highlights artists from different cities and explores their personal journeys, inspirations and body of work.
Each episode range from 8-12 minutes and is premiered at a public screening event designed celebrate the artist and their amazing work. Sprayin' is powered by CANVS.
Sprayin’ was conceived by Edwin Taveras, a cinematographer, producer and passionate street art collector. Captivated by the vibrant life street art injects into neighborhoods and its capacity to ignite creativity, Edwin recognized a common oversight: many artists don't receive adequate recognition for their work. Motivated by this, he decided to leverage his camera skills and storytelling prowess to shine a light on some of his favorite artists through the Sprayin’ series. To bring this vision to life, he assembled a talented team of filmmakers and collaborated with friend and CANVS co-founder, Ralph Andre. Together, they debuted the first episode in the summer of 2022.
We invite artists for episodes primarily through referrals. Once referred, we look at the artist's background and reach out to them directly. We truly respect the artist's work and their personal brand so we based our decisions on the following criteria:
Connection and influence
Energy and love for creativity
Distinct artistic expression
Each episode is part of a branded campaign that leads to an official public screening event located in the home or base city of each of the artists.
